Blog Software Upgrade

I finally got around to doing a long-overdue upgrade of my blog software. Coupled with the addition of an anti-spam comment validator it wouldn’t surprise me if some issues arose. Please keep your eyes peeled for anything weird and let me know if things aren’t acting right.

3/20/08 Update: I cannot believe I waited as long as I did to enable the comment validator. I was getting between 30 and 150 spam comments a day. Because I wasn’t moderating comments daily, about once a week I would log on and have to read through 1,000 comments to see if one was from a valid poster. I logged in this morning 12 hours after the upgrade and there isn’t one single spam comment to deal with. Yeah!

Pre-planning (Or: Logistics)

I woke up this morning with my usual routine: brush my teeth, take a shower, a good ass scratch or two, on with the nice shirt and off to work. Along the way I realize something. Holy shit I own a round-trip ticket to a third-world nation full of mosquitos and malaria and hepatitis and penis fish and velociraptors and kinds of crap! And my plane leaves in 14 days. I’ve got a lot of work to do.

Anchors Aweigh!

Just today I purchased a round-trip ticket to Saigon (AKA Ho Chi Minh City.) I’m leaving on April 3 and coming back on April 30. What am I going to do out there? I have no earthly idea. But I’m going to find some trouble to get into.

Tivo Series 3!

This past week I setup my new Tivo Series 3 DVR. This upgrade represents step two of a four-part revitalization of my A/V system. Step one was the amplifier I got last week. Three and four will be a new TV and high definition disc player, respectively. Obviously this last step will await the settling of the Blu-ray HD DVD war. But in the mean time, I am totally ecstatic about the feature set and quality delivered by my new Tivo box. Unfortunately getting such meant I’ve gone back to the corporate Beelzebub that it Comcast.
