On 7 September I tweeted about a need for a password management tool. Craig Waters responded by re-tweet (RT) with text that included the word iPhone. That keyword was picked up by a spammer, iphone_hills, whose RT included my Twitter name. The image used by iphone_hills used caught my attention and reminded me of a cool new feature Google recently released: image search.
At the time of this post the image used by spammer iphone_hills is at http://a3.twimg.com/profile_images/1179019844/female-face02.png. The file name of this image even suggestions that iphone_hills is choosing a random female picture. I feel a little confident that iphone_hills may change the image once I tweet this story so I have inserted a copy of the image to the left.
While my Twitter followers may be the world’s best looking group, there are not many that present such an eye catching picture. In fact, none of them do. I first wondered why someone with a picture showing such a low-cut shirt was following me. I quickly realized the account was a spam RT account specifically designed to draw attention. But then I wondered whose picture was selected meet this need. Enter Google image search.
Sometime recently Google added the ability to search the internet for pictures. By dragging a picture to the Google search box or several other means you can find every site on the web that uses a particular image. I tried this with the busty lady photo and found some interesting results.
As of today, 7 September, 2011, there are 132 instances of this image on the internet. The site Google thinks most likely represents the image’s original is on a british online prostitution dating site. Note that site’s content is NOT SAFE FOR WORK viewing. Even more interesting than the several porn/dating sites that use this image are the three Facebook profiles that use it as the profile picture:
- Firda Mutz, supposedly in Bekasi, Indonesia
- Chameli Kaur, of unknown location
- Sherika Tomlinson, supposedly in Orlando, Florida
I cannot see that Sherika has any Facebook friends. Chameli has 34 and Firda has 692. 692!!
Glancing through Firda’s friend list it appears that this account is legit. So, is the image above really of Firda? If so, how did her picture end up all over the world? If not, how did the real Firda find this image, and does she know who it is?
What an interesting riddle to try and solve while homebound in Tennessee.
Glad I could give you something interesting to do while you are on your way home 🙂

Face? Honestly, who of any male viewing that picture found their eyes drawn to the face?
